Escaped

Late bet just saved the alarms from ringing and put me in front today.

First race saw two chunks of unprocessed corned beef running for me with one having the perfect name, after being heavily supported this morning it disappeared quicker than lead from a Merseyside church and was out of the race almost immediately, the other nag was no better.

A short price winner put me back in the game, followed by an e/w third for a small profit on the race.

My biggest bet of the day was on the sand tonight, after a poor start he took the lead and ran on well when looking like he was cooked with a furlong to go, a profit was made albeit modest to say the least.

I am going to Geordieland tomorrow so will be having a bet in every race plus a few elsewhere but probably small stakes will be the order of the day.

Rags

Bad day today which i suppose was due, annoying as the races i played in where won by rags.

First bet was beaten into second after beating the jolly and finding an outsider too good for him, second bet was just as bad after beating his market rival and still finding a couple to good. Personally i think the Clerk Of Course should be shot as the going reports where totally wrong and the ground would have been better for planting potatoes than racing horses! So much for good/firm.

The final bet was on the a/w, was heavily supported, had no space round the home turn and his chance was gone, not impressed to say the least.

Lovely Sand

Quiet day with one good bet and two menial bets, but what a day it was.

A big bet on the sand and a nice BF trade started the day off great, my bet which was backed into odds on was always going well and looked likely to have a facile victory but as so often happens at Southwell was made to work hard for the victory.

I just had two more tiny bets who both looked to have good chances but faded when the race hotted up but they where irrelevent as the profit was already made!

Desperate racing and i decided against my better judgement to indulge in a lucky fifteen and a few small singles.

All selections lost and none threatened the judge, lets hope for better racing tomorrow.

So and So

A mixed day today but it goes on the record as a losing day but fortunately losses where limited.

Had a few bets in Ireland today and they where pathetic, first bet was a hotpot and ran a pretty awful race, second bet was another hotpot that gave the leader twenty lengths start and cruised through to finish second after given an impossible task, an e/w fared no better finishing tailed off!

A nice e/w bet in England went astray after never jumping and being beaten after a few fences where negotiated and eventually being pulled up with a circuit to go.

My biggest bet was in the 'Pull Me Out Stakes' and how i needed it, the result was never in doubt as he won as he liked and recovered the losses, foolishly i decided on having a win bet on the second leg of the double, a substitute jockey was happy to sit off the pace and find he had given a 33/1 too much of a lead and finished second again.

Two horses given impossible tasks today was the reason i incurred a loss, happily a well ridden horse recovered most.

Flying

Fantastic day today with lots of winners and even the arabs where on my side today.

Excellent start to the day with my first and biggest bet doing the business after looking like he was going to be stuck in traffic, a fantastic start to the day, that was followed by an e/w bet that won with the minimum of fuss, followed by an e/w second who traded at odds on.

An a/w runner was beaten a head, followed by a tidy bet on a hotpot who romped home in Meydan, then a winner in the Winter Derby ensured more profits.

Three more bets in Meydan followed and the first two won and the last one never got a run to finish well beaten. These are the type of days we love lets hope i can keep this little winning run going.

Getting There

Quiet day today with three bets and an e/w double.

A welcome winning day which was well overdue after a pretty awful week. The first bet ran a decent race i suppose without getting his head in front, the most annoying thing being that he was beaten by a total outsider after beating off the favourite.

The second horse ran a cracker leading almost all the way, looking like he was in for a cosy win until a rival flew after him quicker than a Jap with a surfboard to almost nail him on the line, fortunately my horse had the biggest hooter and that was the difference between winning and losing, i also had the place part of my e/w double so a small profit was made there.

The last bet seemed to be staying on until the nutmeg jumped off after the penultimate fence! so at the end of the day a welcome profit. Another nuisance was the fact i had a tidy BF trade and an e/w bet on a gamble that was withdrawn, i will just say skullduggery!

Diabolical

The god's where against me all day today with a terrible run of luck.

First bet was cruising till jumping the last and found nil to be beaten, quickly followed by a desperate run.

A hurdle race with two running for me was my next bet, one was tailed off and the other finished fourth to ensure no return, my final bet was a nice eight horse hurdle race, my horse was cruising coming into the straight, took the lead approaching the last, made a bad jump and somehow managed to get run out of a place to finish fourth again.

A really annoying day with two horses looking like winning that managed not too, all in all a nightmare day a win bet second and two e/w bets fourth, very annoying.

loss

Two singles, one e/w, one win only and both out of the frame, the only winners where in a lucky fifteen!

The day started badly with a win single being pulled up after making a series of jumping errors, an e/w single was also well beaten.

I invested in a lucky fifteen and two won for me but i needed three home to show a profit as prices where short, still two thirds return better than nothing. I have invested the return on a football bet tonight, Ayr draw h/t, win f/t for a bit of damage limitation.

Every Little Helps

Just three races i had an interest in today in what was a poor days racing.

First bet was a win only bet in an awful race where few seemed to have a chance, the other fancied horse fell at the first fence which hampered mine, then an apprentice rode his horse into mine almost putting him over the rails after that his chance was gone and he plodded on to finish third.

Next bet won well to make me a profit on the day, in my last bet i had two running for me, both e/w bets and both pathetic in finishing well down the field in an apprentice race. As i said i will not be going mad for a while now and today is a perfect example when you see the way some horses are ridden!

Draw

Very quiet day today with only four horses carrying my whisky vouchers.

First bet led till two out and weakened quickly, that was followed by a bet on the flat over the water which was equally dire.

Two more bets both in Ireland followed, the first was never in the race at big odds, then the highlight of the day a horse scrapping a place for an e/w return to ensure a day which finished even.

Had a few too many bets today and back down with a bump, as always Saturdays are very busy and today was no exception. I will definately be reducing the number of bets from tomorrow and reducing some stakes so there will be less activity on the blog.

Most of todays bets where pretty awful with one win bet finishing a well beaten second and most of the others never getting a look in.

Cheltenham Day 4

The final day of what has been a fantastic festival so far with three winning days, should i have a bad day today i will still be showing a healthy profit over the four days so that seems a good position to be in. I also have a great trade on China Rock to win the Gold Cup for me with no risk.

race 1

£12 e/w Third Intention - lost - £24
£2 e/w Smad Place - lost - £4 (race total - £28)

Poor start with both finishing out of the money, always going to be difficult today, hoping for better in the next.

race 2

£20 e/w Dirar - lost - £40
£5 e/w Alrazi - lost - £10
£1 e/w Salden Licht - placed + £5.25 (race total - £44.75)

Dirar was given an absolute shocker, out the back and switched many times when full of running, not impressed and not one of my favourite jockeys, Alarazi was found wanting two out and Salden Licht ran a cracker just getting a place under top weight.

race 3

£10 e/w Court In Motion - placed + £12.50 (race total + 12.50)

Cracking run but foiled by a big gamble on one of Hendo's and an AP ridden horse, still a small profit, China Rock will net me a profit due to an exchange trade if successful so i am not betting on it with the bookies although i hope it wins!

race 4

£4 e/w Tidal Bay - lost - £8 (race total - £8)

The double-barreller has done it, a good horse beating the old stagers, Tidal Bay stayed on as expected but was far too far behind, lets try and nail a few winners in the later races.

race 5

£20 e/w £10 win On The Fringe - lost - £50 (race total - £50)

Fourth but no payout, disappointing as he was hampered and almost brought down in a race won by a total outsider, e/w double also up the swanny! Two races to save the day.

race 6

£8 e/w Rose Of The Moon - lost - £16
£7 e/w Hollins - lost - £14 (race total - £30)

My luck is certainly out today, after having a fourth place when only three places where paid i find myself having a sixth place when five places where paid, i think Hollins came from miles away for sixth and the other a couple of places behind and my Fakenham bet got touched off last stride as well. Onto the 'Pull Me Out Stakes' where i have a tasty bet at good odds that will wipe out the deficit of today, here's hoping.

race 7

£50 e/w I'msingingtheblues - lost - £100 (race total - £100)

Dire run never anywhere near the front, that ends the festival and ends a bad day, i have two more bets tonight for a bit of damage limitation! i will update totals after the two a/w runners, still i have won considerably over the festival which i would have settled for on Tuesday morning.

On The Fringe
I'msingingtheblues £12.50 e/w double - lost - £25

Fakenham 4.15 Captail Knock £20 e/w £10 win - placed - £2

Beaten last stride in  a Silver Spoon race.

Wolves 5.50 Coolaged Wonder £20 e/w lost - £40

Blocked everywhere!

Wolves 7.50 Beetuna £10 - lost - £10

Total pig of a horse.

Other bets - £52
Cheltenham - £273

Total Cheltenham only bets + £556

Today - £325                              total + £788                             bank + £1788

Disappointing final day but what a fantastic four days, overall over half a grand profit just at Cheltenham and profit on other racing made over the four days. I also had one beaten a short head today at Fakenham and two at Cheltenham who finished one place off a return, not to mention the three seconds yesterday. Overall i am more than happy with my bets this week and normal service is resumed tomorrow, i will be more selective and stakes will be smaller, i will probably do a race to race blog at the National three days next month

Cheltenham Day 3

Here we go again, i am putting up bets i have already struck, there may be others to follow and some may be backed again if i have any early success. Am a bit disappointed in Billy's only taking a nifty off me for Grand Crus, put the rest on at the magic sign.
Have not put anything up for the Charity race, although i must admit i do fancy that Rachel Wise (if only!!)

race 1

£20 e/w Wishful Thinking - placed - £2.50 (race total - £2.50)

Big run for my funny there with what i thought was the main danger winning, unfortunately i decided against backing both as the prices where too short, I did not think the mistake at the last made any difference to the result, decent start to the day!

race 2

£17 e/w Chartreux - lost - £34
£10 e/w Buena Vista - won + £250 (race total + £216)

Lovely bit of Dutching, also made a nice BF trade which will be added on on end of day round up, ran as i expected, shot off quicker then Linford Christie's trunks and had the rest in trouble from a long way out and i knew he would stay on up the hill, Chartreux ran ok but weakened badly two flights out, lets hope for more of the same.

race 3

£12 e/w, £6 win Kalahari King - placed + £3 (race total + £3)

A race where i was adamant Poquelin would not win, KK ran a great race after not been given the greatest ride ever, but the jockey comes from my town so i will say no more about him! Thought he was a bit far back but still ran his heart out, beaten again by AP who is showing why is one of the greatest.

race 4

£75 Grand Crus - lost - £75 (race total - £75)

Good race, thought jockey might have rode GC to the front before the last, great riding from Ruby though on the winner to give me my third second place! and i have no placepot voucher.

race 5

£10 e/w Beautiful Sound - placed + £6.25
£5 e/w Quartz De Thaix - lost - £10 (race total - £3.75)

Had an exchange bet on Aigle D'Or which went astray but as i said earlier today the exchange total will added or deducted at the end of day, Quartz De Thaix was prominet but weakened out of it, Beautiful Sound was last for most of the race then ran on for a place when a positive ride would have won the race. Should have done placepot five placed so far.

race 6

£25 Junior - won + £150 (race total + £150)

Fantastic result in the 'Silver Spoon' chase, got on this one just before i put up blog at the nice price of 6/1, good job as it got hammered, well ridden by the silver spoon who reeled in the leader  (pun) and was in no danger from a long way out and won as he liked by twenty four lengths, i will not be having a bet in the charity race but have two small bets on for the sand tonight.

5.45 Liberty Green £7 - lost - £7

7.45 Relative Strenghth £13 - won + £32.50 (night bets total + £25.50)

Several trades on BF + £39
Cheltenham + £288

today + £352                total + £1113                           bank + £2113

Fantastic day today and a few nice trades on some big early morning prices, great festival for me again today with a third winning day. Two nice winners and three seconds and a third but alas no placepot! This could have been a much better day, onto the last day tomorrow where i am in a nice position. I will be opposing Kauto Star, Denman and Imperial Commander tomorrow, what with i don't know but hopefully i will put my bets up here before racing.

Wednesday 16 March 2011

Cheltenham Day 2

We start off with the four mile chase for the 'Silver Spoons'

race 1

£7.50 e/w Aberdale lost - £15
£5 e/w On His Own - lost - £10
£10 e/w Captain Americo - lost - £20 (race total - £45)

Desperate race, Aberdale the most fancied of my trio was at the rear all the way and finished stone last, On His Own and Captain Americo where both prominent till the race picked up a bit of speed and they both went out quicker than Bob Marley at a Klu Klux Klan meeting! lets hope for better in the next race.

race 2

£25 Oscars Well - lost - £25
£7 e/w Minella Class - lost - £14 (race total - £39)

What can i say, Oscars Well jumps the last in front and stumbles when in with every chance, probably didn't want to be in front until after the last, Minella Class was there until fading at the last, so on we go to the third.

race 3

£10 e/w Wayward Prince - placed + £12.50
£3 e/w Master of the Hall - lost - £6 (race total + £6.50)

Good run from Wayward Prince and a bit further he would have won, just a bit far behind around the home turn, all the more annoying was that the jockey won who i was on in the last race, other bet well ran as well even though unplaced.

race 4

£15 e/w Woolcombe Folly - lost - £30
£3 e/w French Opera - lost - £6 (race total - £36)

A race where i was adamant Masterminded and Big Zeb where to be opposed, Woolcombe Folly i thought was not given the best of rides, he got balked at an important time three out and his chance was gone, French Opera was simply not top class.

race 5

£10 e/w Bothy - placed + £20
£3 e/w Carlito Brigante - won + £60 (race total + £80)

Winner at last today although the perfect result would have been the other way around, Carlito was given a perfect ride by my favourite jockey, whenever he comes to England we should all take note, Bothy got second to ensure i recovered most of the losses.

race 6

£25 What A Charm - won + £225 (race total + £225)

Fantastic result to ensure i end the day in profit, looked like the favourite was going to win pulling a cart turning for home but never found that much, my horse was given a great ride to run on up the hill.

race 7

£10 e/w Cheltenian - won + £250
£7 e/w Cousin Khee - lost - £14 (race total + £236)

Great end to the second day, had another two bets one has won at 3/1 and one runs at 18.20, think it must have fell in the paddock as i listened on the car phone!

Two other bets today, one winner, one loser + £5
Cheltenham + £441

today  + £446                          total  + £761                                    bank + £1761

A very satisfying day which looked ominous after the first four races, that changed after a first and second from two bets in race five and the last two winners, great end to what could have been a bank buster! lets hope for more of the same tomorrow.

Tuesday 15 March 2011

Cheltenham Day 1

Different format for festival, updating race by race.

race 1

£10 e/w Zaidpour - lost - £20
£10 e/w Spirit Son - placed + £3.75 (race total - £16.25)

Cracking ride on Spirit Son, looked the winner jumping the last until being run out of it up the hill, Zaidpour got bumped when  the favourite pulled wide and made a slight jumping error three out and finished a creditable seventh.

race 2

£30 Medermit - lost - £30 (race total - £30)

Against my better judgement i decided to back Medermit despite the jockey, my money was soon up the swanny after another dire ride, never in with any chance whatsoever in a race won by a horse he beat cosily last time.

race 3

£12.50  e/w Sunnyhill Boy - lost - £25
£7.50 e/w Bensalem - won + £61 (race total + £36)

The duck is broken with a gutsy win for Bensalem and credit when credit is due the jockey gave him a fair ride, i thought he had gone a bit wide rounding the home turn, that made up for last year when i backed him and he fell when looking the winner, Sunnyhill boy was never travelling and came a cropper!

race 4

£10 e/w Oscar Whisky - placed + £10
£3 e/w Kyber Kim - lost - £6 (race total + £4)

A race where i thought about backing the winner but the price was a bit short so decided against it, Oscar Whisky ran a good race in third and KK was poor, but a small profit on the race.

race 5

£30 Garde Champetre - lost - £30 (race total - £30)

Second place, beaten by a very well ridden horse, my horse was given too much to do under top weight, made up a lot of ground and just failed.

race 6

£5 e/w La Vecchia Scuola - lost - £10 (race total - £10)

Hopeless!

race 7

£12.50 e/w Divers - won + £156
£7.50 e/w Tullamore Dew - placed + £7.50
£7.50 Swing Bill - Lost - £7.50 (race total + £156)

Excellent finale with a winner and third, Divers coming from behind and Tullamore Dew being in the front line all the way, Swing Bill ran poorly, got that race right as my biggest wager was on the right horse.

Two other bets, one winner and one unplaced + £25
Cheltenham Day One + £100

today + £125                       total + £315                               bank + £1315

A decent start with two winners, two seconds, two thirds, one fourth and five unplaced at Cheltenham plus a winner and loser on the sand.

Lets see what tomorrow brings as i shall be updating again race by race, i have an a/p on Cheltenian in the bumper and a few othere i am thinking of backing, Alfa Beat, So Young, Time For Rupert spring to mind but i suppose that is stating the obvious a bit.

Bit Better

Quiet day as expected, a lull before the storm i suppose, will be betting every race at Cheltenham tomorrow and have a couple already placed.

todays bets = 4, wins 1, placed bets 0, losers 3
total staked £100  total returned £122

today + £22                       total + £190                          bank + £1190

One win from only four bets today but the winner was enough to wipe out the loss incurred from the other three dire runs.

First bet was hugely popular and was yet again given a dire ride when crashing into the wing of a fence then managing to get denied a clear run in a small field, one that was again the best horse in the race but never won! no Choc for me tonight!!!!

A welcome winner followed who cruised through to lead then looked like getting run out of it only to just get back up the line for me, the jockey was the difference between winning and losing.

Two more bets to end the day with and both where beaten with a circuit to run, the first one was pulled up and the second was an e/w that was well beaten after the betting told the story in the final five minutes before the off.

Have three bets on for tomorrow and have other horses i know i am backing but just pondering over the jockeys, one of my strongest bets of the festival is to be ridden by one of the weakest jockeys, so i will wait till tomorrow on that one. Finally i wish everyone a successful festival and am posting below a few i will be backing.

1.30 Zaidpour on e/w @ 20/1 a/p
2.05 Medermit, wish other jockey was riding!
2.40 Undecided yet?
3.20 Kyber Kim e/w
4.00 Garde Champetre
4.40 Undecided but fav looks good
5.15 Divers e/w although don't trust trainer but this is supposedly his best chance!

total bets = 1, wins 0, placed bets 0, losers 1

today - £15                          total + £168                         bank + £1168

Just had one bet in the Emerald Isle today, as is the norm a diet of dire racing is served up the final few days before Cheltenham and today was no exception.

I thought i was going to collect but the run of bad luck is back with another second, my horse cruised through to lead and made a mistake at the last which knocked the stuffing out of him and he got run out of it the last half furlong. As i always say when a horse is cruising why not ride him into a big lead so should an error be made then you are far enough clear still to win, i cannot believe this horse has lost as he was by far the best in the race!

After the news Binocular was not running was still in my mind a brucie bonus was given as my stake was returned, this was placed in November and not part of this blog so would not have added or deducted from the totals anyway, don't expect to do an awful lot tomorrow but will be backing every race at Cheltenham and have already placed a few with the NRNB proviso!

Saturday 12 March 2011

Decent

A winning day to get me back on track which was needed but still a lot more of the same required.

todays bets = 10, wins 3, placed bets 1, losers 6
total staked £245  total returned £518

today + £273                       today + £183                         bank + £1183

Fantastic start to the day with a photo finish going my way, then another winning race where i had two running for me. the biggest bet doing the business with the minimum of fuss, that put me in a fantastic position where any more returns would have made the day an unforgettable one.

Sadly the day went downhill, after being in the lead coming to the last and instead of getting the horse to pop the fence the nutmeg must have thought he was approaching the chair in the national as he asked for a big jump which resulted in an error and him losing on the run in to a stablemate, the air had turned blue long before the winning line!

A flat winner reduced my blood pressure only for it to rise again after a lacklustre ride in a bumper race where my bet finished an e/w second after the jockey made no effort to win after cruising through the field quicker than an ugly woman can blindfold her vibrator!

Two decent win bets both went astray, one finished a well beaten second and the other looked like he had never jumped a fence in his life and was never a factor. To complete the day an e/w fourth followed by another a/w bet that despite being prominent was given a shocking ride finding plenty of trouble to finish well beaten.

A welcome profit, lets hope i can end this dreadful week on a high with a few winners tomorrow.

Friday 11 March 2011

Hopeless

Another losing day with only one horse who looked like he had a chance of winning. I did have a bet which won by a short head last night to give me a win which will be added to this blog.

today bets = 5, wins 0, placed bets 0, losers 5
total staked £230   total returned £88

today - £142               total - £90                  bank + £910

The only think good to say about today was i started in a positive position after for a change i had a winner in a photo finish, but that was as good as it got.

A decent bet on a heavily supported favourite looked to be going well until for some reason it crumpled after taking the lead at the third last when looking all over the winner, that fall also put pay to two multiples.

An each way bet on a short priced horse was soon down the pan as was my final win bet as the horse with the money on before the off cruised clear to win as it liked with mine labouring under a very easy ride!

i really feel like i am sinking in quicksand with the only people available to pull me out being cannibles, Cheltenham will need to find me a few winners.

Thursday 10 March 2011

Same Again

Another dire day with no returns from only four bets, normal i suppose!

todays bets = 4, wins 0, placed bets 0, lost 4
total staked £125   total returned £0

today - £125                     total + £52                               bank + £1052

Only four bets today and yes another four losers, the day started with an each-way bet which i placed on the exchanges as a non-runner ensured only fifteen went to post in a bookie benefit handicap, a wise move considering there was still four places for grabs, the only thing was my bet finished fifth beaten a nose with a distance back to the rest of the field to ensure my neverending run of bad luck continued.

The next bet was win only in a small field who was a well beaten second, that was promptly followed by a third place in Meydan and to make sure the day was all gloom another losers ended the day.

This is really tiresome writing the same every night, when the next winner seems miles away, a good festival meeting next week in desperately needed. i may consider a night bet or two but have done the blog now to watch the cheap shellsuits play football soon!

Disaster

The dire run continues and too be honest i can see no way out of it, the mini disaster goes on!

today - £100                              total + £177                        bank + £1177

The days go on and on with not a glimmer of hope of turning the corner on the horizon, this is the third week of disastrous results, a nice e/w bet started the ball rolling, the horse cruised around the home turn looking the winner but alas he could not pass the leader so another second place to start off the day.

Two bets on fancied horses resulted in one falling when well beat and another who started at the back and was well tailed off when pulled up, an e/w bet also pulled up , three bets and not a sniff of excitement.

The good old national hunt flat races came next, thought i was in with a chance when the favourite slipped and gave his jockey a flying lesson but my horse weakened and finished almost last, the other bumper i had an e/w interest in, my horse lead until the home straight and was passed quicker than a hot vindaloo curry and in a dual for third place lost out by a head to ensure i got no return, a final flat bet on the a/w ended with you guessed another horse finishing second, beaten by the second biggest priced horse in the field!

A day where i feel like popping a balloon or crushing a grape, yet again the gods never smiled on me with the usual diet of horses just missing out on winning or being placed.

Incompetance

Another losing day with incompetance being the name of the game today, Hmmmmmmm

todays bets = 6, wins 2, lost 4
total staked £100   total returned £60

today - £40                   total + £277                             bank + £1277

Fairly quiet day today with only six bets and all to modest stakes, the day was off to a flying start with a nice winner and apart from another short price winner it was an annoying day.

My biggest bet was an e/w on a nice price that travelled very well until the home straight, then went out quicker than a Scouser in a job centre and yes you guessed it finished fourth so no return.

Two a/w bets resulted in a hotpot winning and the second bet that had it's head up on the line to lose by a nose when money was lost on it at 1.01, maybe another push of the reins would have been sufficient as he definately was ahead the yard before the line!

I had an e/w bet on a short price hurdler which on paper could not finish out of the first three, the horse was at the rear most of the way and was never given any chance as when the 'Doyle' riding decided to make a move two runners where thirty lengths in front, he then coasted home to finish fourth to ensure another bet went west, and just to round the day off an apprentice rode my last bet and finished faster than a Wayne Rooney elbow to finish behind at the line and ahead just after.

An infuriating day with the only bit of comfort was the fact that my stakes where modest, so the incompetance of  jockeys only had a minimul effect on the bank.

Level

A day with not much action and only three bets where struck in a poor days racing.

total bets = 3, wins 0, placed 2, losers 1
total staked £120   total returned £123

today + £3                           total + £317                      bank + £1317

A quiet day today which was expected with just three bets but two returned place money and one finished unplaced so no loss was incurred.

It is a pain when you get placed horses that turn over the hotpot favourite but still find another too good! Today was a nearly day and one blessing was that my biggest bet at least showed a small profit, probably be another quiet day tomorrow.

Bad Luck

A small profit was made today but the curse of the multiples struck again to spoil it.

todays bets = 5, wins 2, losers 3
total staked £100, total returned  £145

today + £45                    total + £314                          bank + £314

A profit today which was needed but the day revolved around multiples in which yet again i was foiled by two hotpots failing to deliver, a four runner accumulater saw two win and two lose.

I also had four single bets so i had two winning singles and of course two losers, it is always asking a lot to land a four fold accumulater even with fancied horses but when landed it will prove a good bet!

I am glad to see the end of this torrid week and hopefully a new leaf will be turned over tomorrow, it has been a real struggle this last fortnight with the bank taking a spanking, lets hope the festival fund can come good next week although i suspect i will air on the side of caution.

Hammering

A total write off today with everything going against me and the recent reprieve was short lived on another day where i have overbet. Another follower so a big hello to you.

Todays bets = 7, wins 0, places 0, losers 7
total staked £225, total returned £0

today - £225               total + £269                 bank + £1269

A right hammering was taken today and i feel more deflated than a blind cobblers thumb!

Another treble resulted in my only winner of the day but the two hotpots where turned over and ran like slugs in a salt cellar, so that resulted in a losing bet.

The woe's increased with two e/w bets both finishing fourth at decent prices and basically the other bets where never in the hunt and where less popular than Enoch Powell at the Notting Hill Carnival.

Maybe the best thing to come out of this week is Sunday night and hopefully a new week will see a return to winning ways, i anticipate a quiet week next week leading up to Cheltenham week so bets will probably be smaller than in previous weeks, i already have a few ante-post vouchers for the festival and a few at decent odds.

Bit Better

Another small amendment to the blog, i am going to round my total to the nearest pound and not bother with the coppers. Hello to my new follower.

Todays bets = 9,  wins 4, e/w places 2, losers 3
total staked £320, total returned £405

today + £85                  total + £494                   bank + £1494

Another profitable day but how it could have been different, a trixie with a decent winner and two hotpots unplaced, if one had won it would have returned a nice profit and both winning would have been the difference between drinking expensive whisky and very expensive whisky!

There was hope today with four winners to modest stakes with the biggest bets being satchel fillers, still a small profit so no complaints as my dragon says good stuff in small packages.

Saturday tomorrow so that usually means a few horses running without reservations at the pedigree chum factory, and Saturdays have been kind in the past so lets hope i can keep this small winning run going.

Small Profit

First of all i must say that i have decided not to name horse's i have backed or stakes wagered on them so my blog will look different from now, it follows a request from a source of information that i do not want to lose.

I realise that this could be a nuisance for some of you but needs must i am afraid!

My £25 football bet went astray after Rangers decided they would prefer to play five a side, so that is added onto the totals.

todays bets = 7, wins 1, e/w places 1, losers 5.
total staked £340, total return £400

today + £60             total + £358.35                        bank + £1358.35

A very busy day for me when maybe i have overbet and should have been a bit more cautious, just the one winner and one e/w place or else the day would have been carnage! so i was happy to turn a small profit to end the awful losing days that have been eating away at me.

A decent day tomorrow on the cards, but caution could be the name of the game and small stakes may be called for.

Jump

todays bets:

2.10 Cozy Tiger £20 - lost - £20
3.40 Amirico £20 e/w - lost - £40
4.00 Santera £70 - lost - £70
5.00 Misaro £17 - lost - £17
5.40 Kidlat £25 - won2.8bf + £40
6.40 Pose £2 e/w - lost - £4

today - £111                          total + £298.35                  bank + £1298.35

Another desperate day and this routine of mentioning jockeys is getting tiresome, but on it must go!

First bet and a desperate run finishing third out of the only three in the race who could raise a gallop, not a good start to today, Americo was well punted before the race, the rider was sat motionless as he made effortless ground from the rear to second place, he did not hear my obscenities as he refused to ride the horse into a nice lead instead staying motionless until before the last hurdle, the horse found nil after the last and was passed by another two runners to finish out of the places when odds on in running to win the damn race.

Santera was another gamble given an uninspiring ride, jockeys head was like a ventriloquists dummy whilst deciding what to do and settled for running wide, he was never in the race from a long way out and another decent bet gone west! Misaro was last just about all the way and stayed there to finish last.

Kidlat was a brief glimmer of hope with a hard fought victory under 'no legs' and Posy was tailed off and more or less walked over the line after the other runners where back in the horseboxes.

Another dire day with more or less all bar one horse running awful, i have had a pony on Rangers to win @ 4.3 on BF, will trade back if they score first, not because i am a Rangers fan but because it is probably just about value?

Crap

todays bets:

Double £50 - lost - £50
3.00 Duke Of Ormond £15 - lost - £15

today - £65                               bank + £409.35                      bank + £1409.35

The long losing run continues with only two bets, a single and a double with both losing.

The single win bet on Duke Of Ormond was my first bet and he seemed to jump the first few alright until a horse fell in front. I was telling myself that he should get away from the loose horse but every jump he seemed to be hampered by it then he had nothing left and went out with a whimper.

The first leg of the double was on York Glory who was one of  the best backed horses of the day and was 1/2 at post time, he was on the rails around the bend then brought wide, ran on well but far too late, the best horse in the race but another who lost through a desperate ride, the second leg has not run but will probably win easily!

Another sickener, it is infuriating to be beaten by jockey's incompetance when everybody can see what is happening around him, still another lesson to be learned, odds on equals no bet.
