Cheltenham Day 1

Different format for festival, updating race by race.

race 1

£10 e/w Zaidpour - lost - £20
£10 e/w Spirit Son - placed + £3.75 (race total - £16.25)

Cracking ride on Spirit Son, looked the winner jumping the last until being run out of it up the hill, Zaidpour got bumped when  the favourite pulled wide and made a slight jumping error three out and finished a creditable seventh.

race 2

£30 Medermit - lost - £30 (race total - £30)

Against my better judgement i decided to back Medermit despite the jockey, my money was soon up the swanny after another dire ride, never in with any chance whatsoever in a race won by a horse he beat cosily last time.

race 3

£12.50  e/w Sunnyhill Boy - lost - £25
£7.50 e/w Bensalem - won + £61 (race total + £36)

The duck is broken with a gutsy win for Bensalem and credit when credit is due the jockey gave him a fair ride, i thought he had gone a bit wide rounding the home turn, that made up for last year when i backed him and he fell when looking the winner, Sunnyhill boy was never travelling and came a cropper!

race 4

£10 e/w Oscar Whisky - placed + £10
£3 e/w Kyber Kim - lost - £6 (race total + £4)

A race where i thought about backing the winner but the price was a bit short so decided against it, Oscar Whisky ran a good race in third and KK was poor, but a small profit on the race.

race 5

£30 Garde Champetre - lost - £30 (race total - £30)

Second place, beaten by a very well ridden horse, my horse was given too much to do under top weight, made up a lot of ground and just failed.

race 6

£5 e/w La Vecchia Scuola - lost - £10 (race total - £10)

Hopeless!

race 7

£12.50 e/w Divers - won + £156
£7.50 e/w Tullamore Dew - placed + £7.50
£7.50 Swing Bill - Lost - £7.50 (race total + £156)

Excellent finale with a winner and third, Divers coming from behind and Tullamore Dew being in the front line all the way, Swing Bill ran poorly, got that race right as my biggest wager was on the right horse.

Two other bets, one winner and one unplaced + £25
Cheltenham Day One + £100

today + £125                       total + £315                               bank + £1315

A decent start with two winners, two seconds, two thirds, one fourth and five unplaced at Cheltenham plus a winner and loser on the sand.

Lets see what tomorrow brings as i shall be updating again race by race, i have an a/p on Cheltenian in the bumper and a few othere i am thinking of backing, Alfa Beat, So Young, Time For Rupert spring to mind but i suppose that is stating the obvious a bit.
